A talented young rider will test herself against the best in the country after winning three titles.

Skye Valderas, 8, of Tydd St Giles, on her pony Middletons Smarty Pants, dominated older rivals at Wisbech District Riding Club’s event and has qualified for the Your Horse ESUK Grassroots Championships at Arena UK in July 2014.

Her proud grandmother, Jackie Valderas, said: “She has been riding since she was three. She lives for it. It runs in the family. I used to ride, her mother still does and her sister does competitions.

“We don’t want to put too much pressure on her for the Arena UK competition so we’ll see how it goes. There is no age limit so she will be against people who are a lot older than her.”
