The latest craze to hit the country has come to Fenland in the shape of giant inflatable balls that you run around in.

Loopy Balls are at Skaters Roller Rink at Walpole Highway, near Wisbech, which take mayhem to a whole new level.

The balls are giant inflatables that strap on to your back leaving the wearer to run around for games of football, bulldog or just rolling around.

Skaters manager Gary Evison said: “As far as we know the nearest place you can go to have a proper game with these is Nottingham so they are a pretty new craze,

“Kids and adults can play but from what we’ve seen so far adults are a lot more competitive.

“The craziness of loopy balls really takes off when you’ve got 20 biggish blokes ramming each other like mountain goats in a game of football. It’s hilarious, tiring and great fun.”

The venue can cater for groups of up to 20 with just 10 playing at any one time to give players a much-needed break.

“Ten minutes inside one of those balls running about is about all you can handle,” Mr Evison said. “It’s really tiring.”

The teams then swap around over a period of two hours to give everybody a total of about 40 minutes play and plenty of breaks.

Mr Evison said: “We wanted to find an activity that is a bit different, this definitely fits the bill. It can suit corporate days, stag parties, children’s parties and family groups.”

Players must be 1.5 metres tall and weigh a maximum weight of 18 stone.

Pay and play sessions are at Skaters on Thursday nights and cost £10 each. Just turn up to play.

Private hire can be fitted in around non skating times.
