THE March Mummers performed at several locations in March town centre and met the creator of their play on Saturday.
Mike Herring, from Peterborough, came over to watch the acting group put on the short play, which he wrote in 1968, at Georges, The Acre and The Ship.
The six performers were accompanied by musicians, Keith and Karen Cheale and Alan Roberts and raised £100 for Mencap.
Mr Herring enjoyed the production so much he wants to organise a reunion of the original performers next year.
He said: “I really enjoyed seeing the play performed again.
“If they do it again next year I would like to bring over some of the performers from 1968 to watch.”
Kathy Cornell, one of the collectors accompanying the performers, said: “I have told Margaret Oaty of the Fenland Branch of Mencap about how much we have raised and she is delighted.
“The money will be used to support adults with learning disabilities.”
The March Mummers were formed last year with the aim of recreating the past, having some fun and raising money for charity.
