“THIS is insane” were the first words singer-songwriter Lucy Rose uttered to her adoring crowd after taking to the stage to play her biggest ever solo show.

Delicately poised on a stool in London’s Electric Brixton the petite 23-year-old admitted to her audience this gig – the last stop on her UK tour - had caused her a few sleepless nights.

But after settling in with a couple of tracks off her debut album Like I Used To, and with the support of her four-piece backing band, out came one dreamy tune after another.

Songs such as her more upbeat Middle of the Bed and Lines received a roaring cheer and had the sold out crowd jigging along to her catchy folk-pop melodies.

Between numbers, the former Bombay Bicycle Club vocalist took a few minutes to peer up from her heavy blonde fringe and engage in warm and witty banter with her fans.

Before giving a special acoustic performance of a new track The Fire, Rose even admitted to them this song got her adrenaline rushing as it was written about a mysterious person in the audience.

Deafening screams filled the venue when she finished her set with her latest single Bikes, which saw the crowd respond as she repeatedly sang the line “Everybody scream out loud”.

The indie sweetheart then reappeared with an encore of Be Alright and Don’t You Worry, showcasing yet more of her hauntingly beautiful vocals.

As Rose left the stage with a modest wave, mesmerised fans flocked to her merchandise stand to stock up on her own blend of tea and homemade jam. Yes, that’s right, besides her spellbinding voice she is pretty handy in the kitchen too.

It makes you wonder is there anything this girl from Warwickshire can’t do?
