THE resident organist of the Thursford Collection Norfolk is giving his first concert at the Angles Theatre, Wisbech, next month.

Robert Wolfe, who completed his 31st consecutive summer season last year, comes to Fenland on Friday, February 10.

As a 14-year-old budding organist, Robert visited the Thursford Collection and approached founder George Cushing to ask if he could play the Wurlitzer Organ.

Mr Cushing agreed because he was already aware of Robert’s musical talent. That gesture led to a relationship between Robert and Thursford that has continued for more than 35 years.

In 1981, he became Thursford’s first resident organist at the Tower Ballroom in Blackpool, and in September 2010 completed his 30th consecutive summer season before leaving the north west and returning to Norfolk.

Robert plays music from the 1930s to the present day, ballads to ragtime, dance music and light classical.
