The former fire station in Huntingdon is being sold for £1.5 million - including the drill tower and smoke house.

Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service vacated the building in 2022 and moved to a more modern building in Huntingdon.

The old site comprises of more than 1.6 acres of land, and has a guide price of £1.5 million.

The large purpose-built fire station includes five bays, and this, as well as training buildings, a drill tower, smoke house, training accommodation, workshops, garaging and private gardens all make up this large development site.

In addition, there are four semi-detached properties with spacious gardens, available as part of the sale.

East Anglia-based property company, Cheffins, has launched to the market a significant development opportunity.

While the site does not currently have planning permission granted for conversion, Chaplin Farrant, an award-winning architectural practice, has produced a development proposal for the site, which suggests the construction of 34 new homes, in a mix of detached and semi-detached houses and flats, as well as the introduction of public open space.

Situated on the junction of Hartford Road and Nursery Road in Huntingdon, this inner town site is well located and surrounded by a number of both residential and commercial properties, with the likes of Sainsbury’s, Marks & Spencer and Boots all within walking distance.

Maxwell Fahie, Associate, Cheffins, said: “The fire service has relocated to a new site as it looks to centralise its operation, and this has made way for a fantastic opportunity for both national and local developers.

"Situated in a strategic location, within walking distance of the town centre and close to a number of amenities, this site has the potential to create a range of housing, in an area with a shortage of new stock.
