A lifelong artist from the Fens is preparing to hold his first art show in more than 40 years.

David Peter Housden is based in the Wisbech area where he has lived for 50 years.

This includes 31 years as the art teacher at the Queens Girls & Thomas Clarkson schools.

The art show, which takes place at Peckover House, opens this Thursday at 11am.

"There is a great deal of local interest in this show because the 16-foot painting 'Before The Flood', which depicts Wisbech as it was before the 1978 flood, will be shown in public for the first time," said David.

"Also included is my painting of 'The Big Butterfly Watch', which the Butterfly Preservation Organisation are using to promote the next watch.

"When they posted it across social media platforms, more than 8,000 people viewed it on X for example!

"The show will also include 24 other Wisbech & Fenland paintings that I have produced over the years."

David added that he will be at the opening of the show this Thursday (March 7) all day from 11am to 4pm.
