A chef at a Fenland café will hang her apron up for the last time after 26 years in the same role.

Carol Grainger, who is a general assistant at The Green Welly in Chatteris, is retiring today (Monday March 25).

She said: "I will miss the friendly people and customers have become friends over the years.

"I have loved doing the cooking and the staff that I have worked with."

Carol's two daughters, Joanne and Toni, also worked at the café over the years.

Maria Whiting, manager, said: "Carol has seen many changes at the café but has always been a very loyal and excellent member of staff.

"She will be missed a lot."
