I REFER to your lead story in the April 20 issue regarding the blue paint used at March station. The shade of blue used on the canopy columns on platform one is obviously quite wrong when compared with the train operator's 'house' colour, already applied to the doors and other woodwork on the station buildings.

It may seem a waste of effort and money for 'one' to insist that Network Rail should do the work again. After all, the columns have been painted and are therefore protected from the elements.

However, if I had employed a decorator to paint my lounge walls in a particular shade that I had specified, and he/she had used a different one, I would insist on it being done again at the decorator's expense.

But whatever the eventual resolution of this particular matter may be, there is still work to be done. The brackets at the tops of the columns have not been properly finished.
