SOME people just won't stand up to a challenge nowadays.

Take for example Olympian and one-time strongman Geoff Capes who, on a visit to the Neale-Wade Community College for a sports festival, decided to offer pupils some tips on shot putting.

After one of them struggled to get the technique right, he walked aside saying: "I can't do it any more, it's just too hard."

Brakespeare must assume that breeding all those budgies has turned him into a bit of a softie.
