A GROUP of six ladies raised more than £450 in aid of Cancer Research UK in memory of a former colleague.

The ladies - Carol Wood, Carole Ann Sheppard, Sue Biddulph, Lou Watson, Sandra Ledbrook and Rachel Searle - work at Springfield care home in March and walked in memory of Shirley Ames who died in April.

They called the event a ‘Stroll for Shirley’ and walked from Springfield, in The Causeway, to Doddington and back. When they arrived in Doddington they stopped for lunch, where some of Shirley’s family met them.

The ladies are now hoping to hold an event each year in Shirley’s memory.
