After raising more than £1,000 for local charities, Mrs A Lancaster's original Old Time Dance Committee decided to call it a day in 1955.

For 10 years the weekly dances had been popular with local couples. The final dance was held at the Rose and Crown Hotel, in Wisbech.

Chief guests were the mayor and mayoress of Wisbech, Councillor and Mrs A Gay. On the mayor's right in the picture is Mrs Lancaster, chairman and secretary, and on his left is Mrs N B Bennett-Jones, treasurer.
