Young people across Cambridgeshire enjoyed a range of music workshops featuring singers, label managers and a marketing executive from Universal Records last weekend.
The event, which was held at Sir Harry Smith Community College, was part of VoiceFest, a musical project partly run by youth theatre group 20TwentyProductions.
The workshops were held by industry professionals who gave lessons on how to make money from their music and using social media to promote their music.
Then in the evening all 18 young people showcase their increased vocal and stage confidence – thanks to six months of hard work - as they performed for family and friends.
One parent said “I feel VoiceFest has really helped my daughter with her confidence both on and off the stage.
“It has also encouraged her to continue with her musical aspirations and to follow her dream of being a singer-songwriter”.
Katherine Nightingale, chair of 20Twenty Productions, said: “We hope to be able to continue this fabulous project next year if we are successful in receiving more funding.”
The programme was created to give guidance, performance opportunities and an insight into the music industry to a number of young artists.
