THIS was Murrow Great Northern and Great Eastern Railway Station and signal box before the Second World War.
The station was unusual for having two main lines crossing each other. The GR and GER (March to Lincoln) was crossed by the Midland and Great Northern Midland line.
There were only two places in the country with this arrangement.
Standing at the entrance of the signal box was Frederick Bevis, who had previously worked in the signal box along Twenty Foot, March.
Mr Bevis was almost blind and relied on touch and hearing. There were no accidents while he was in charge but there was one shortly after he retired.
