A COUPLE have been stopped from going abroad this summer after police confiscated their passports following a drugs raid.
A 51-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man were arrested at a flat in Chequers Court, Bronze Street, March, after a tip-off to police.
Ten officers mounted an early-morning raid on the flat last week and about half-a-kilo of herbal cannabis and an ounce of cocaine were seized.
Police believe the couple paid £1,800 for the cannabis and £800 for the cocaine, amounts they believe would be doubled should the drugs be sold on the streets.
Police also took £2,000 in cash from the premises.
Both alleged offenders have been bailed with conditions while the drugs found at the flat are sent to laboratories for analysis.
Officers are considering if the evidence allows them to substantiate claims of possession with intent to supply class A and class C drugs.
Police say they rarely impose travel restrictions when bail is given but in this instance it was feared the alleged offenders could leave the country for a villa they own in Spain.
The force's economic crime unit is studying all the couple's holdings, including bank accounts and other assets held both in this country and abroad.
It is also attempting to establish if there are grounds for the £2,000 seized to be forfeited.
