Joan and Raymond Smith, penpals during the Second World War, will celebrate their diamond wedding anniversary next Thursday.
Lifelong Chatteris woman Joan first wrote to Raymond when he was serving in the Army in Burma in 1943.
After the war Raymond moved to Chatteris from his home in Hertfordshire and they married at the town's Parish Church.
