A NEW community car scheme has started in Fenland - the Elm, Friday Bridge and Coldham scheme, providing door-to-door transport for people who do not have the use of a car and are unable to use conventional public transport.
The scheme is aimed particularly at helping those without transport and the elderly to get out and about, to maintain contact with friends and relatives, to get to medical appointments, picking up prescriptions or visit the hospital.
Passengers make a contribution of 25p a mile towards the cost of their journeys and there is a minimum charge of £2. All drivers are volunteers and they receive an additional subsidy from Cambridgeshire County Council.
INFORMATION: To arrange a journey call the scheme co-ordinator on 07902 316360.
