BUNNY Girls arrived in March in 1966, and your favourite local newspaper was there to mark the occasion.

The first 'Bunny' in March was 22-year-old Marie Chapman, of Tooting, London. She was one of two girls at the New Lobster Pot Revue bar.

The club opened in June of that year and, for the first six nights, Marie was on her own, before being joined by her 20-year-old sister. Marie said she had previously worked as a waitress but had always wanted to be a Bunny Girl.

She pointed out that for the London club the most important statistic was height - girls had to be five feet six inches tall. Marie was five feet three.
