* YOUNG David Coupland's face was just one in a gathering of 300, but it gave the biggest beam when a very important person spoke to him. For David, of Manor Farm, Murrow, had quite a chat with Her Royal Highness, Princess Margaret, at the Cumberland Hotel, London, on Friday. He was one of five youngsters chosen to represent East Anglia at the celebration dinner for the 21st anniversary of the Methodist Club Association in London. Princess Margaret, wearing a green, chiffon dress with gold accessories, asked David where he came from. "Wisbech," he replied. "Yes, I know Wisbech well," said her Royal Highness.

* MARCH'S Spring Festival Week came to a close and few traders seemed to have taken advantage of the lead set by the Chamber of Commerce. The president of the Chamber, Jack Boon, said the excuse of those traders who did not make any special effort was that they were too busy. Those who did take part in the shopping week activities were very pleased with the result.

* WHILE a seamens' strike threatened to gnaw at the very roots of Britain's economy, it could have brought unexpected but nevertheless extra business to Wisbech port. With numerous ships laying idle in the bigger ports all over the country, unaffected ships were on the lookout for alternative berths at which to unload. That view was endorsed by the chairman of the Port and Harbour Committee, Councillor Basil Drew, who said: "We have our eyes wide open to the position and if we can get extra cargoes for Wisbech then we shall do so."

* WHITTLESEY Action Group were virtually starting again in their bid to question the Urban District Council on various matters of local importance. At their last attempt there was an unfortunate misunderstanding between them and the council and at a special meeting of the Action Group the members agreed to write to the council requesting that they met informally, and in complete confidence, with a full council of a special delegation of councillors. If the council in part agreed with the Action Group another meeting was to be held to prepare questions for discussion. If not, questions were to be formulated in such a way that a 'Yes and No' session at a public council meeting would be beneficial.
