Year 5 children from Cavalry Primary School in March took part in Sing for your School, a Cambridgeshire-wide competition which gave them the chance to write and record their own songs through a series of workshops.
Once the songs had been rehearsed and recorded they were uploaded on to an online chart for a panel of judges to listen to and decide a winner.
In the end, a total of eight Cambridgeshire schools were given the opportunity to perform their songs live, in a showcase event at the Cambridge Corn Exchange last week, before an audience of family, friends and officials.
Cavalry’s song was entitled ‘Cavalry is Rhythm’, which the children wrote and performed with the support of Sarah Edwards and Sarah Pooley, who lead music at the school.
They said: “It was a wonderful experience for the children to perform in front of such a large audience.
“All of the children gave their all and enjoyed every minute of it.”
