After months of preparation, six cadets from 1220 (March) Squadron completed their Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expedition in the Yorkshire Moors.

The cadets spent three days travelling through the Moors, carrying all their supplies and equipment on their backs.

The intrepid group’s preparations began in April when the team travelled to Edale in Derbyshire to take part in some navigation training and equipment testing.

After deciding on which tents to use, the team set off for the Moors and once they arrived they tackled various terrain including the Lyke Wake walk.

Once the three-day trek was completed, the group was treated to a well-earned meal of fish and chips.

Jon Bird, the Yorkshire Moors DofE panel assessor, said: “It was a very well planned and executed expedition.

“Lots of initiative and team work showed through the whole duration and the team worked well together to overcome barriers along the way.”
