Children at Burrowmoor Primary School enjoyed a right Royal treat on Friday in celebration of the Queen’s 90th birthday.
Crown making, bunting designing and afternoon tea was on the menu at the March school in aid of the very special occasion.
Headteacher Anne McCarthy said: “The children have been learning about the life and times of Queen Elizabeth II, looking at her palaces, prime ministers and her history.
“Each child has designed a piece of bunting and they’ve been learning to sing God Save the Queen.
“Even the nursery has been involved and George James Funeral Directors sponsored the afternoon tea.”
“It’s a real community event,” said Kerry Rolfe, from the company. “We like to support the local school and recently donated them some gazebos.”
More than 200 cupcakes and one massive birthday cake was also made this morning by the school’s cook Zakerah Terzaghi and her team, as well as some donations from the Co-operative.
Mandy McClenaghan, assistant head/nursery teacher, said: “We’ve already had one party this morning and the children have been decorating their own cakes and crowns.
“We only started working on them this week!”
