Children at Park Lane Primary and Nursery School in Whittlesey have raised £1,100 for a pre-school on Inhaca, a small island off Mozambique.
As part of the Inhaca Project, they held a rainbow themed non-school uniform day, as well as a car-boot sale at the summer fete.
The project was organised by teaching assistant Mrs Stroud, who visited Africa last year and spent time with the teacher and children at the pre-school on Inhaca.
Mrs Stroud said “This money will be used to provide the children with better resources and build a new room to improve the quality of their education.
“The Inhaca project has helped our children to understand the cultural differences and through interactive Skype sessions with the pre-school, they have seen directly the impact from their fundraising efforts.”
