A mother-of-three from Chatteris has raised £10,000 for the hospital which treated her for cancer last year ... and she’s not done yet.
Health and safety supervisor Clair Welch found out last June she had a very rare form of cervical cancer. She was admitted to Addenbrooke’s Hospital for surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and bracitherypy.
After getting the all clear, the 36-year-old decided to show her gratitude to the hospital by raising funds for Cancer Research.
Her husband Silvio and his bandmates in TickinBoxes played a gig at the King’s Lynn Corn Exchange, bringing in £8,000. Then, they performed in Peterborough Cathedral Square, raising an extra £2,000.
There is still one more gig to come, in Peterborough, which Mrs Welch hopes will bring their grand total to £12,000.
She said: “All of my treatment and care was given at Addenbrooke’s. Both myself and my husband Silvio have been so impressed with the care I was given so we wanted to give something back, we decided to raise money for cancer research.”
