The air cadets, aged 14, were self sufficient throughout, carrying their own food, supplies and tents.

On day one, the teams walked from Whissonsett to the campsite at Coxford.

The second day involved a walk through a series of villages, ending in Little Massingham.

After completing his expedition, cadet Joshua Birchnall said: “Physically and mentally challenging it was the best Duke of Edinburgh experience I’ve had yet.

“I enjoyed the scenery - some of the buildings we passed were really interesting. The pigs were good too.”

The Duke of Edinburgh award is available to all air cadets at the 1220 (March) Squadron. For more information, go to www.1220atc.org.uk
