Whittlesey and District Lions’ record-breaking fundraising haul is already being put to good use ... it has paid for a life-saving piece of equipment to be installed outside one of the town’s pubs.
The charity raised nearly £4,000 with its Christmas collection. They have donated £1,000 for a defibrillator to be fixed on the wall of the Letter B.
A Lions spokesman said: “Whittlesey and District Lions Club would like to thank the people of Whittlesey and surrounding areas for their kind generosity, enabling us to raise nearly £4,000. This being a record.
“We would also like to thank our supporters who helped us collect. Without their help we would not have been able to achieve this.
“This year we have already started to use the money by donating £1,000 for a defibrillator.
“Kind thanks go to the landlord Bruce Roan and electrician Dick Wells who installed it free of charge.
“Other projects planned are to supply a meal to the Whittlesey Disabled Club and help local youth organisations.”
