MARCH Lions Club members belted out The Village People’s disco classic YMCA as they raised 450 for charity at a fundraising BBQ.
The event, held at the home of Lions’ president Trevor Stockbridge and his wife Wendy, was organised to increase people’s awareness of testicular cancer. More than 60 people were entertained by March singer/songwriter Bondi before Lions’ members took to the stage to perform a handful of songs.
Testicular cancer charity Everyman will receive 300 of the money raised. The remaining 150 will be donated to a children’s home run by Rev Isaac in Uganda to help the complete the construction of a pig rearing unit at the school.
