ON this day remember that you are an Englishman, and have consequently won first prize in the lottery of life.
Well that was how Cecil Rhodes, the British born businessman from the 19th century, regarded St George’s Day and whilst not quite on the same scale the town of March did come out in force to celebrate this anniversary.
Not only did the town host its annual St George’s Day fayre but there was also the not so small matter of a best dressed window display for the Cambs Times trophy.
We hosted the competition in conjunction with March Chamber of Trade and today we gathered at the Wedding March to hand over the trophy to this year’s winner.
Readers were asked to vote from among the 20 or so entries and gave The Wedding March the narrowest of victories but a victory it was for manager Jo Smith who received the trophy from chamber president Nigel Coley (left) and John Elworthy, Editor of the Cambs Times.
