FIREFIGHTERS cut two people from their cars today after a pile-up on a Fenland road - which happened while a separate collision was being cleared at the same junction.
Emergency services were called to the A141 at Wimblington after a minor injury collision at the junction with Manea Road between a community ambulance and a bus from Fenland Area Community Transport, based in March.
However, while firefighters were clearing the scene a four-vehicle collision happened on the opposite side of the road, in which two people became trapped.
The A141 was closed between Mill Hill Roundabout and Old Station Way while firefighters cleared the wreckage.
Occupants were cut free from two of the vehicles, a Subaru Impreza and a BMW 3-Series - but firefighters could not separate the cars after releasing the casualties. As a result, they pushed the cars off the road joined together.
The A141 was closed for more than an hour while the road was cleared. Traffic was diverted through Wimblington.
