George Russell was left thanking “everyone who has been on this journey” after winning his first Formula One race.
The Tydd St Giles driver beat Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton to win the Sao Paulo Grand Prix in Brazil on November 13, just 24 hours after victory in the sprint race.
And after surviving a late safety car, the 24-year-old held off Hamilton to claim top spot.
“To my family, my friends, my teammates and everyone who has been on this journey, thank you,” Russell tweeted.
“I can't put into words how much your support means to me and how much of a joint effort it has been.
“This win is as much yours as it is mine; I'm so proud of you all.”

Russell’s teammate Hamilton, a seven-time world champion, had collided with Red Bull’s Max Verstappen early in the race, and managed to survive two safety car restarts at Interlagos.
After Daniel Ricciardo made contact with Kevin Magnusson, Lando Norris broke down, leaving Russell to defend top spot from Hamilton heading into the final 10 laps.
Speaking after the race, Hamilton said of his teammate: “I want to say a huge congratulations to George.
"What an amazing job. He truly deserves it.”
Russell sits 25 points above Hamilton in the drivers’ standings ahead of the final grand prix of the season in Abu Dhabi this weekend.
