A farmer dressed as ‘The Lone Ranger’ certainly turned a few heads as he rode his pet bullock called Stuart into a KFC drive-thru at Ely Leisure Village.

Jodie Green, of Green Acre Farm, in Ely, has a special bond with the eight-year-old which he firmly believes is the largest bullock in the UK.

He prefers to be known as the famous character from the classic cowboy movies, and probably shouts “Hi-Yo Stuart” instead of “Hi-Yo Silver” on their adventures.

Ely’s Lone Ranger and his bullock visited the leisure village and have raised close to £1,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

He said: “Stuart is a really special boy, and I honestly think he’s the UK’s biggest bullock.

“He was born on the farm and was his mum’s first calf. She needed a hand to love him so for the first week we helped Stuart suckle and get milk.

“They bonded, and I also bonded with him. Stuart was always so friendly and as he grew up, he would always come over and leave the herd if he spotted me.

“I’d give him his special feed and a brush – Stuart was so docile and gentle.

“When the time came to send him to the livestock market, Stuart went in the lorry to Melton Mowbray with his mates.

“My wife and I were following them and I said: ‘I can’t sell Stuart, he’s such a big part of the farm’.

“I knew I’d miss him too much. So I phoned the auctioneer and asked him not to sell Stuart because I’d fallen in love.”

Stuart refuses to hit the scales making it tricky for Ely's Lone Ranger to weigh him.

But Stuart now has a home for life in Ely and has even been blessed at a pet service at St George’s Church, Littleport.

“We feel Stuart now deserves to be recognised and bring a smile to people’s faces,” Ely's Lone Ranger added.
