March man to be sentenced after admitting drug offences

Joshua Lack, 24, had been due to go on trial at Norwich Crown Court having previously denied being concerned in the supply of cocaine in Wisbech.

Lack, of Doddington Road, March, had been due to go on trial alongside Benji Smith, 19, of Goose Lane, Marshland St James, near Wisbech.

But before a jury was sworn in to try the case on Wednesday (June 14) Lack entered acceptable guilty pleas to alternative offences.

He admitted possession of cannabis, with intent to supply on July 20 2021 and possession of cocaine on September 24 2021.

Ian James, prosecuting, said the pleas were acceptable to the crown in terms of Lack and offered no evidence against Mr Smith.

Judge Alice Robinson adjourned the sentence of Lack until August 25 so a pre-sentence report can be prepared.

The judge ordered a not guilty verdict be entered as far as Mr Smith was concerned.

Judge Robinson told Lack the fact she had ordered a pre-sentence report did not mean he would get a suspended sentence and it could still be "immediate custody".
