A Chatteris site manager has been described as one of the best in the UK after winning a top accolade from the National House Building Council (NHBC).

Damien Ramm received a 'quality award' at the 2023 Pride in the Job Awards, marking his dedication to the Abbot Walk development in the town.

The award is a prestigious benchmark which recognises exceptional site managers. This year there were more than 8,000 entrants and judges carried out thousands of site inspections, meticulously scoring each before deciding on the winners.

Entrants were judged on technical expertise, leadership skills, attention to detail, interpretation of drawings and specifications, consistency and health and safety.

After comparing results, the NHBC announced 443 winners nationally, describing the recipients as being among the country’s best house builders.

Ben Smith, managing director at Persimmon East Midlands, said: “We are delighted to see Damien recognised for his dedication to the Abbot Walk site, he has worked extremely hard to ensure the project is delivered on time and to the highest possible standard.

“Damien impressed the judges with his meticulous eye for detail and his strong leadership skills. He shows great passion for delivering first-class homes for their new owners and this award is well deserved. We would like to congratulate him on his success.”

Damien Ramm, site manager at Abbots Walk, said: “I take great pride in leading the team at Abbot Walk and we always strive to be the best.

"It is an honour to have that acknowledgement from the judges, and to be one of this year’s Quality Award winners.”

Steve Wood, chief executive officer, at NHBC, said: “Congratulations to all the winners who should feel proud to have received a Pride in the Job Award.

“It is important we recognise the vital role site managers play in ensuring new homes are delivered on time, on safe sites and to exacting construction quality standards.

“This accolade recognises the best site managers across the UK and celebrates how much Damien has inspired his team by going the extra mile to deliver homes of the highest quality.”
