A Fenland woman will lead her colleagues in a 10km walk around Cambridge to raise money for a cause close to her heart.

Jenny Ballantyne, HR manager at CB3 Consulting, is spearheading the charity challenge in aid of Dementia UK.

The walk will take place on Thursday October 5, starting at 2pm, and the team will all be wearing green for the occasion.

The charity provides specialist dementia nurses to those affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease.

Mrs Ballantyne, who lives in Wimblington, said: “The charity makes such a difference to people living with dementia, and we thought it would be a lovely idea to raise some money which we hope will help them continue their invaluable support and research.

“We mentioned it to some of our fellow businesses based at St John’s Innovation Park and they too want to join us, along with some of our clients, so now we are one big team walking together to raise awareness and funds for Dementia UK.

“We’re encouraging everyone to wear as much green as possible.

“We decided on the colour green due to the calming and relaxing effect it has on those suffering with dementia. It is also thought to be the last colour dementia patients lose the ability to see."

The walk will see the team complete the 10km round trip from St John’s Innovation Centre into Cambridge and back again, where well-earned refreshments will be waiting for them.

The walk is open to anyone who would like to join in.

The team has set up a dedicated donation page where supporters can donate directly to Dementia UK.
