A new store in a Fenland town is to be opened by some 'very important people' later this month.

The volunteer team behind a Chatteris Foodbank have been picked to open the town's new B&M shop on Fenland Way.

The new B&M colleagues were asked to nominate a local charity who they think deserves some VIP treatment for the work they do for the local community.

Chatteris Foodbank is a volunteer ran charity who dedicate their time to helping local people who are in crisis, by handing out food and toiletries parcels for up to four days.

Each week, between 10-15 parcels of food and toiletries are handed out to local individuals and families in need.

They never miss a week, even providing food parcels on Christmas day.

Chatteris Foodbank said it is also grateful that Kingsfield school and Cromwell Primary have both made significant donations when visiting the church as part of their Harvest festival celebrations.

The store manager from B&M said: “Chatteris Foodbank really stood out for us, so we wanted to give them some VIP treatment as a thank you for all the hard work that they have done.

“We hope that our donation can help them to continue the great work they do.

"We’re feeling extremely positive about the creation of more jobs for local people, and we hope customers are going to be delighted with their new store.”
