A courageous six-year-old from Cambridgeshire has donated 20 inches of her hair for a charity that's close to her heart.

Ruby James, who braved the shave in aid of The Little Princess Trust, also raised over £400 from donations.

The charity provides free real hair wigs to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or other conditions.

Ruby's mum, Rachel, said: "The inspiration came from Ruby’s elder cousin Hollie, who donated her hair a few years prior.

"Over the years, Ruby has always received lovely comments regarding her hair, so I always had in mind that donating it would be a lovely thing to do.

"Ruby’s hair has brought me a lot of joy over the years but, as we reached our 20-inch goal, Ruby was more than ready to have it cut by local hairdresser Bethan.

"Ruby and I absolutely love Ruby’s new hair, and we hope the old hair will bring lots of joy to whoever receives it."
