Several events are taking place across Fenland to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day today (June 6).

Here's where and when they are being held:

March

  • 7.30pm start
  • 8pm music by March Brass 2000 
  • 8.50pm parade with serving, veterans and cadets
  • 9pm Act of Remembrance
  • 9.15pm lighting of the beacon by the Mayor of March 
  • 9.30pm singing of the National Anthem

​There will also be food stalls, a bar and World War Two vehicles and displays on the night.


Wisbech 

Lighting of the new beacon in Wisbech Park by the Mayor of Wisbech

  • 9pm dedication service
  • 9.15pm lighting of the beacon 
  • 10pm event closes 


Chatteris

Lighting of the beacon in the Parish Church grounds

  • 11am war memorial service
  • 8.30pm performance by Chatteris Community Choir
  • 9pm proclamation
  • 9.10pm RBL standards to be dipped and prayer
  • 9.15pm lighting of beacon
