The team behind a new education provision in the Fens say they are already looking at ways to expand due to high demand.
Sage Education Provision, which is for pupils who experience emotionally-based school avoidance through anxiety or medical needs, opened in Longhill Road, March, on Tuesday April 22.
Sarah Amor and Gemma Fulcher, who left their teaching jobs at Cromwell Community College in Chatteris, said Sage opened with "higher than expected numbers".
Talking about the provision's first few days, Gemma said: "The feedback from the pupils has already been positive, with some attending our setting after years of not attending any formal schooling.
"We are so proud of them and the progress that they have already made," she added, going on to praise the "support and commitment of their parents for getting them in".
"It confirmed the need for this type of provision, supporting those pupils for whom mainstream school is not working," Sarah said.
She added that, so far this week, the pupils have been completing a mix of academic studies, therapeutic work for anxiety, arts and crafts and games to support social skills.
"It has been wonderful to see some of them already starting to build friendships," Gemma added.

"This is causing much excitement for the pupils, and he will be a great addition to the team, and a calming influence on the pupils."
Gemma and Sarah also thanked those in the local community who have made donations to Sage to support the pupils.
"We currently only have a few spaces left, but are already looking at ways to to expand so we can offer more spaces," Gemma added.
