POSH mascot cuts ribbon to open Whittlesey school play area

Pupils at a Fenland school are having more fun in the playground thanks to a newly opened play area.

Park Lane Primary and Nursery School in Whittlesey held a special ribbon-cutting ceremony this week to mark the opening of the play area, which has been designed to spark creativity, build confidence, and support early development.

The school, part of Aspire Learning Trust, welcomed the much-loved Peterborough United mascot, Peter Burrows, who joined staff and excited pupils for the ribbon-cutting. 

The new play area was made possible through generous funding provided by Aspire Learning Trust.

The trustees enthusiastically supported the vision of the school’s Early Years Leader, Miss Louise Tansley, whose plan was presented to the board and demonstrated the importance of an area to encourage children's physical development, imaginative play, and pupil interactions.

The children are loving playing with the new equipment, especially the climbing frame and stage area.

A spokesperson for the school said: "A huge thank you to POSH, they were incredible and the children loved their time with the mascot, especially the penalty shoot-out."
