Minis in March Market Place will see iconic cars on show

The Cambs Mini Club is holding its second Mini car show on the Market Place in March on Sunday, and this year the event is in aid of the British Heart Foundation.

Last year's event, which was the first of its kind, was the brainchild of town councillor and then March mayor Gary Christy - himself a Mini owner.

He launched the event with the aim of encouraging people into the town centre during the continuing town centre rejuvenation, which is now complete, and also marked the iconic car's 65th anniversary.

Former March mayor Gary Christy has donated his prized yellow Mini convertible as a raffle prize. (Image: Gary Christy) This year, Gary is hoping to make someone else the owner of a Mini as he has donated his yellow 2004 Mini One Convertible car as the prize in a raffle.

Tickets are £10 each and will be on sale at the event, when the draw will also take place to find the lucky winner.

This year also marks the Cambs Mini Club's fifth birthday, and they are hoping Sunday's gathering, which will run from 10am to 3pm will be a great way to celebrate.

The event is free and open to everyone to pop along to and admire Minis from the classic 1960s models and everything in between up to the present day.

Gary said: "Under a week to go now till Minis in March Market Place. It's really shaping up to be a great one, and the weather forecast looks pretty good.

"There'll be plenty of Minis, some old, some not so old, and some new.  Time is short to sign up with Cambs Mini Club to see if you can be squeezed in if you want to take part and show your Mini.

"A big surprise this year, following last year's theme, is that there will be a raffle with the chance to win a Mini for £10.
