Savannah and Amelia take on run in memory of March couple

Savanah Rayner, 15, and Amelia Ling, 14, are both members of RKA Kickboxing Academy in March run by Stuart Harris and his daughter Paige.

The friends, who both attend the Neale-Wade Academy, are set to take on the Insane Terrain run at Washbrook Farm in Doddington on Sunday, August 24.

They are doing it to raise money for Kidney Research UK, and Savannah's mum, Shell Rayner, has set up an appeal to raise as much money as possible.

(Image: Stuart Harris) Savannah, who has been a member of RKA for two years, and Amelia, who has been a member for 18 months, are known as the Power Princesses by RKA's owner, Stuart, who lost both parents earlier this year.

Stuart's dad, Henry, died on April 24 after suffering complications from a strangulated hernia, including problems with his kidneys.

His mum, Carole, died just a week later; Stuart said she had been on kidney dialysis for a number of years.

As a result, mourners at the couple's joint funeral held at March Crematorium were asked to make donations to Kidney Research UK instead of giving flowers.

Stuart said: "It was devastating to lose them both so close together. It has been a really sad time, but it is really great that the girls have decided to do this Insane Terrain run in memory of mum and dad.

"They are our Power Princesses, so I'm sure they will do well and hopefully raise lots of money for the charity. They have already raised £710 - which is nearly three times their original target of £250, but it would be wonderful if they could hit the £1,000 mark - that would be fantastic for the charity."
