A new school road safety scheme is helping children learn how to stay safe around large vehicles.
Knowles Logistics, one of the region’s largest employers with more than 650 staff, has launched the education programme as part of its ongoing community outreach.
The company will visit schools to deliver interactive sessions using one of its vehicles, helping pupils understand blind spots and the importance of staying visible when walking or cycling near lorries.

"With so many vehicles on the road every day, road safety and community wellbeing are at the heart of what we do.
"These initiatives clearly demonstrate that Knowles is a business built on strong values — and we’re proud to give back to the area that has supported us for generations."
The programme is part of Knowles’ broader commitment to community support, which includes environmental care and education.
The company recently donated pallets to Peckover Primary School for outdoor learning activities and funded "kiddie cut-outs" at Thomas Eaton Primary Academy to encourage safer parking and driving around the school.
Knowles also sponsors pupils’ sports kits for inter-school events.
Earlier this year, operations manager Gavin Slater led a team of volunteers in a litter-picking project near Harecroft Road sports fields, supported by the National Trust and Fenland District Council’s Street Pride scheme.
The company also sponsors Wimblington Men’s and Ladies’ Football Clubs.
Founded in 1932, Knowles Logistics provides supply chain solutions for major UK ambient food and packaging brands.
The company operates nearly 400 vehicles, including one of the UK’s largest electric fleets in the 3PL sector, and manages more than two million square feet of warehousing across its network.
