A leader in neurorehabilitation has been named Rehab Leader of the Year.
Aliyyah-Begum Nasser, operations director at Askham Rehab, in March, received the public-voted honour at the NR Times Awards 2025.
Ms Nasser said: "I am deeply honoured by this recognition and incredibly touched that so many people took the time to vote.
"This award reflects the work of a truly exceptional team: colleagues, clinicians, partners and families who believe in delivering rehabilitation that is ambitious, compassionate and forward-thinking.
"I’m proud of what we have built together, and this inspires me to keep pushing for what’s possible."
Askham Rehab, part of the Askham Village Community, has continued to grow under her leadership.
The centre has adopted new technology, explored progressive therapy approaches, and strengthened its community-focused model.
Colleagues praised her leadership and the positive changes she has driven within the organisation.
Donna Smith, manager for rehab and nursing services, said: "Aliyyah’s leadership has been instrumental in strengthening our services, supporting our teams and ensuring our residents experience rehabilitation that is both innovative and meaningful.
"Her passion encourages all of us to aim higher and continually evolve what we do."
Lyndsey Marie, clinical lead at Askham Rehab, said Ms Nasser’s influence has transformed the organisation’s culture.
She said: "The culture of collaboration and possibility that defines Askham Rehab today exists because Aliyyah believed we could do more, and then inspired all of us to make it happen.
"Her leadership has transformed our approach to rehabilitation—championing innovation, investing in people, and ensuring every individual and family feels genuinely supported."
The team at Askham Rehab thanked everyone who supported the nomination and voted.
