The Mayor of Chatteris, Linda Ashley, has sent a message this Christmas time to the town's residents and has praised the volunteers who work hard for Chatteris and its people, providing amazing events throughout the year.
She said: "I would like to take this opportunity to wish all the residents of Chatteris a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
"Chatteris Town Council has had a busy and successful 2025, and our local community volunteers have been hard at work putting Chatteris on the map.
"The town council and the residents appreciate everything they do.

"The success of the In Bloom team, who gained another 'Gold Award' and were shortlisted in the Royal Horticultural Society's 'Best in Britain' award. Their tireless hard work and dedication to make Chatteris look amazing are greatly appreciated.
"In June, the annual Summer Festival took place, the theme this year was TV cartoon characters, the event was supported by the local schools, nurseries, families and many other organisations.
"Visitors enjoyed a fun-filled weekend starting on Friday with a concert from the Community Choir.
"Saturday included the annual parade through the town, entertainment in the arena, stalls, rides and finished with a Party in the Park.
"Sunday was jam-packed with activities for everyone, including children’s sports, the popular colour fun run, a water fight and a foam party.
"The festival is organised by a very small committee of five volunteers and officers from the town and Fenland District Councils. Next year’s theme will be 'Around the World in 80 Days'.
"This year, Chatteris celebrated 40 years of the Christmas lights. The lights are the best in the area and are visited by many people over the Christmas period.
"The Committee is run by volunteers who give up their weekends to make this a truly amazing display. They are funded by donations and various grants, including one from the town council.
"The FACT free Friday bus service around the town will continue in 2026 as Chatteris Town Council is stepping in to fund the service.
"The town council continues to support many other organisations in the town with grants and looks forward to continued success in 2026."
