A town centre dental practice is looking to expand into a neighbouring building, with the creation of up to 10 jobs.
Amiras Chokshi, of March Dental, at 24 Broad Street, has applied for planning permission to expand his dental business into a former carpet warehouse premises that adjoins his building.
Mr Chokshi is looking to convert and extend 6 Greys Lane, which is currently a redundant building, having previously been used as a carpet warehouse which closed two years ago.
A heritage statement, drawn up in support of the application by Morton and Hall, explains the building, which dates back more than 100 years, is currently in a very poor condition, with a single-storey wing being in danger of collapsing.
March Dental was granted planning permission for the conversion of 24 Broad Street into a dentist's in 2020.
The heritage statement explains: "The proposal is to maintain as much of the existing building on Grays Lane as possible, which requires structural strengthening and foundation works.
"This will then be extended about the rear of the site, which cannot be seen from Grays Lane to create an additional storey for dentists' surgeries, to support the infrastructure at ground floor level.
"The openings at present onto Grays Lane are being maintained, with additional openings being set.

"The elevation onto Grays Lane will be repointed/repaired as necessary."
The heritage statement explains there is no opportunity to provide parking, and clients using the practice would be expected to walk to the site, as there is a "good pedestrian" link to the dentist's.
An economic statement, also submitted in support of the application, explains the proposal will bring a redundant building back into use and will create an additional six full-time and four part-time staff.
The existing dental practice has 15 full-time staff, nine part-time, and 14 self-employed.
