Cambridgeshire food reviewer Lucy Melton shares her thoughts following a recent visit to Cafe Foy in Cambridge
I recently visited Cafe Foy in Cambridge and it did not disappoint.
I had seen many good reviews over the years so I had high hopes.
It's quite small inside so I've struggled to get in before.
It's easier to go on a nice day to sit outside and we are entering the perfect season for that.
The menu isn't very big, but everything on it sounded really good, and they had a good selection on the specials menu.
I went for the avocado on toast and added on feta and poached eggs.
There was loads of avocado which was great and it had a really good flavour.
The tomatoes were really fresh and added a good taste to the dish.
The eggs were poached really well and the feta tied it all together.
My friends really enjoyed the Shakshuka and said it tasted amazing.
It was served with three slices of sourdough which was great as they didn’t run out of bread to dip.
It had hummus on the side as well which was tasty.
We all enjoyed the homemade lemon iced tea, it was very refreshing and had a great balance of flavours.
I also had a chai latte which was so creamy and one of the best I have had.
I will definitely be back, especially in the summer so we can sit outside as it is in a lovely location down by the river.
They also have a great cocktail bar out the front for the summer days.
I really want to try the mushrooms on toast which they unfortunately didn't have when I went so I need to go back for them.
The service was great and everyone was very friendly which always makes a visit more pleasant.
