Blazin’ Squad will top the bill at this year’s March Summer Festival, bringing their early‑2000s chart hits to West End Park as the main attraction of the three‑day event.
With less than a month to go until MarchFest26 kicks off on Friday June 12, organisers say preparations are well underway and promise the “best festival yet” – helped by the festival’s first-ever international, multi‑million selling headline artist in the shape of the reunited hip hop group.
Saturday remains the festival’s “Pop in the Park” day, and Blazin’ Squad will lead the line‑up with a prime evening slot.
They are due on stage at 8.30pm on Saturday, with organisers urging fans to stake out their spot in West End Park early if they want a good view.
Ahead of them, from 7pm, crowd favourites One Wild Night will warm things up with their in‑demand, sing-along 80s covers set.
Blazin’ Squad scored seven Top 10 hits in the early 2000s and are best known for their 2002 Number 1 single Crossroads, cementing their place in the memories of anyone who spent their teenage years in that era. For many festival‑goers, their appearance will be a chance to relive that soundtrack live in March.
As in previous years, the festival will be split into themed days, with Friday evening dedicated to rock.
Friday (June 12) will be headlined by rising Cambridgeshire act The Baby Seals, the garage‑rock trio featuring March sisters Kerry and Amy Devine.
The band are coming off the back of a successful spell that has included multiple shows on mainland Europe and says they are excited to play the March Summer Festival for the first time.
Their appearance comes before a planned return to the studio later this year to record their next album, making the West End Park show a chance to catch them live before their next chapter.
The Sunday keeps its more relaxed, folk and acoustic feel, rounding off the weekend with a focus on local talent.
Popular local outfit the Alan Norris Big Band will headline the final day, joined on the bill by Dingo Jingo, who bring an Americana‑tinged folk‑rock sound.
From midday, Twenty20 Productions will take over the stage for a three‑hour showcase of youth performers from the area.
Around the park, visitors will also find family‑friendly entertainment including DOA Wrestling UK and Belgian circus performers Tripotes La Compagnie, adding a festival‑style mix of live music, spectacle and activity.
Organisers are encouraging people to check the festival website and Facebook pages for full line‑ups, timings and any late updates in the run‑up to the weekend.
They are also appealing for volunteers and supporters to help keep the community event running, whether that is with fundraising, selling draw tickets or helping out on site over the festival weekend.
