A new bakery menu is bringing a taste of the 1970s to a Cambridgeshire high street this summer.
Bakery79 has launched its 'Summer of 79' collection, a nostalgic celebration of flavours inspired by the late seventies, and its menu will be on offer in Peterborough.
The menu, which features cheese and pineapple baguettes, Parma violet doughnuts, and Cherryade coolers, reimagines classic treats for modern customers seeking comfort and a sense of playful indulgence and is on offer at Peterborough Bakery79 in Bourges Boulevard.
The launch comes amid a growing national appetite for retro-inspired food experiences as part of the “newstalgia” trend.
The company says the menu is a tribute to the bright, carefree spirit of 1979 and the foods that defined childhood summers, family holidays, and classic lunch counters during that era.
Hemant Tandon, co-founder of Bakery79, said: “There’s something instantly nostalgic about flavours like Parma Violet, cheese and pineapple or Cherryade - they remind people of family holidays, party food and trips to the sweet shop growing up.
"We wanted the Summer of 79 menu to capture that fun, carefree feeling and recreate those familiar favourites in a fresh and playful way for today’s customers.”

Bakery79’s Summer of 79 menu blends this sense of comfort with contemporary convenience, offering grab-and-go bakery items that tap into fond childhood memories.
The drink selection includes tropical pina colada mocktails alongside watermelon cooler, Cherryade, and Pineapple Lemonade, all designed to evoke the taste of long, colourful summers.
Customers can also enjoy indulgent milky drinks such as black forest chocolate and mint chocolate, inspired by classic dessert flavours.
Savoury options include coronation chicken and Heinz Sandwich Filler (ham salad) baguettes alongside the standout cheese and pineapple baguette.
For those with a sweet tooth, the bakery has introduced doughnuts in Drumstick, Parma Violet, and Jelly Bean flavours, offering a modern twist on beloved sweet-shop classics.
New grab-and-go dessert pots, including fruit and yoghurt and fruit and custard, have also been added to the summer menu.
The limited-edition menu launched today and is available in all 12 Bakery79 stores nationwide.
