The first photo of the Fenland house involved in an arson investigation shows a police cordon and fire damage.

Fire crews and police were called to a house fire on Meadow Close in Chatteris at around 1.30am this morning (August 14).

Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters used hose reels to extinguish the fire and returned to their stations by 4.40am.

Fire crews from Chatteris, Huntingdon, March, and Manea attended the scene.

A photo from the scene shows a police cordon, fire damage to the front windows and a police van stationed outside the property.

A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue said: "The cause of the fire is currently under investigation."

A police spokesperson said that a 36-year-old man from Chatteris was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.

The man was taken to hospital, where he remains.
