The author of Trainspotting is set to give a book talk in Ely this month.
Irvine Welsh will be at The Lighthouse Auditorium, in Chapel Street, on Tuesday September 22.
He will be speaking about his new novel, which is titled Can Nothing Save Us?
The story follows Molly and George Warburton, a couple accustomed to living life their own way. In the ferocious heat of Sin City, they face their failures and final years.
They announce that their grandson Luke will inherit their millions, but the news leaves their daughter Gina hell-bent on revenge.
Luke’s good fortune is short-lived when a strange newcomer insinuates himself into the Warburtons’ world. His arrival begins a chain of chilling events that could split the family permanently and put all their lives at risk.
Welsh was born and raised in Edinburgh. His debut novel, Trainspotting, has sold over one million copies in the UK and was adapted into an era-defining film.
He has written 15 further novels, four books of shorter fiction and numerous plays and screenplays too.
Doors to the Ely event will open at 6.40pm for a 7pm start.
